Popcorn Sales

2009 Popcorn Sales for Pack 100

Popcorn Sales agreement:

  • Popcorn may only be sold by registered Scouts.
  • Collect the payment when you sell (not when you distribute).
  • Provide the customer with a receipt of payment:
    • You will give the customer a receipt (Pack will provide receipt pads) with the Pack contact information for the customer and a notice that there are no returns.
    • You will write your first name and Den number on the receipt.
    • Record what the customer ordered and paid for as well as the amount of the payment received and whether it was cash or a check.  There will also be a place to record donations.
  • Cub Scout popcorn commission (25% of sales) goes to the Scout’s account.
    • The account may be used for Pack events and activities.
    • The money can not be given to the Cub because this is a charity, fund raising event.
    • If a Scout drops out, the account money reverts to the Pack.

Important Dates:

  • Start selling on or after September 19th
    • Online sales can begin at anytime.  We will give you your online code that friends and relatives can use on request.
  • You must turn in your Popcorn Order along with full payment at or before the October 22nd Pack Meeting (6:45 pm).  We can’t take any orders after that date!!!
  • Pick up your Popcorn on Saturday, November 14th, after Scouting for Food.  This is a change from previous years… this is the first Scouting for Food Saturday.  Since you turned in payment with your order, you only need to distribute what you have sold!!!

Pack Dues:

  • Pack dues are $108 for the 2010 calendar year.
    • Dues cover the Scout’s registration and Boys Life subscription as well as Pinewood Derby car, Pinewood Derby prizes and ribbons, Scout Awards and badges, Blue and Gold Dinner for the Scouts whole family, BBQ and other events, 2010 rocket, etc.
  • Dues must be paid by November 30, 2009, for the 2010 Pack year because the Pack recharters in early December and must pay registration fees at that time.  (They can be paid from the Scout’s popcorn account.)

Sales Dos and Don’ts:

  • Wear your uniform when you are selling!!!
  • Never sell without an adult along
  • NEVER, EVER go into a house even if you know the people.
  • Checks must be made out to Pack 100 (or Cub Scout Pack 100).  We must pay the council from our account.

Popcorn Prizes:

  • In addition to the Cub’s commission, he will earn prizes.  (note: online sales don’t go toward prizes, but they do pay commission.)
    • Your Den Leader has brochures if you are new to our Pack or didn’t get one in the mail.
  • You should check out the prizes now to see what you want to shoot for.
  • You may divide your sales between the various prize categories, for instance…
    • If you sell $450 in Popcorn,
      • You may select a prize from the $300 level 5 and the $150 level 3… or…
      • You may select 3 prizes from the $150 level 3
      • It’s up to the Cub.
  • You will also receive a segment to go on your uniform and either a Patch or pin for your “brag vest”.

Online Ordering:

On the new trails-end.com, each Scout will self-register and create his Scout ID.  Here are steps to create a Scout account to sell online:

1. Go to trails-end.com
2. Click on Scouts (at the bottom)
3. Click on Create An Account (in the upper right-hand corner)
4. Under Create A New Account, fill in the required fields.  (We are Pack 3100.  That is actually our official Pack number with BSA).

Our Scouts will need their parent’s permission.  Once registration is complete, a seven digit Scout ID is automatically generated – this Scout ID will be listed in the upper right-hand corner when a Scout is signed in under his account.  This Scout ID is what family and friends will use on trails-end.com to support a Scout and purchase Popcorn.
