This year, Pinewood Derby will be better then ever! More fun and
more excitement including a real race car to look at. Don't miss it.
We will have lunch, a cake auction
and, of course, a great Pinewood Derby race and awards. This year we
will also have a race for family members (Grandma's, Grandpa's, Mom's,
Dad's, Uncle's, Cousins, Brothers, Sisters, etc) It will be on Saturday,
January 14th.
Grandparents, parents, brothers and sisters are all invited to
share in the excitement. Here's what's planned:
11:30 - 12:00 - check your car in (remember that there must be
3/8" clearance under the car and it cannot weigh over 5 oz.)
12:00 - 12:15 - Scouts will cast their ballots for the cars they
think best represent the judging categories. The Scout should vote
for his own car in 1 category!!!
12:00 - 1:00 - Purchase Pizza and a drink from the Pack for
$2.50.
We will also auction off the cakes… so far 13 cakes have been
committed.
1:00 - 2:30 - The Race - each car will get 4 runs (one in each
lane of the track). Our computerized track times to the 1000th of a
second. The 'owner' of the lane 1 car will push the button to start
that heat.
2:30 - 3:00 - Prizes awarded (Participation medals for all plus
1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons for speed by Den and for the Pack. A
trophy for the Den with the best average time. 1st, 2nd and 3rd
place ribbons for the design categories.)
3:00 - 4:00 - Family member race. $25 per car entered.
First prize is a kid's sized .22 rifle (FFL paperwork will have to
be filled out by winner and a background check is required.)
There will be great 2nd and 3rd place prizes, too.
